Assess and manage acutely ill patients within the inpatient/hospital setting including the emergency department, intensive care unit, acute care wards, or any combination of the above. Legally diagnose and treat medical conditions and provide direct patient management from admission to discharge in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcare team. Prescribe medications and treatments based on efficacy, safety and cost. Perform procedures including intubation, arterial line placement, central line and pulmonary artery catheter placement, needle decompression of pneumothorax, lumbar puncture in addition to other procedures. Provide quality care, decreased length of stay, and improved patient and family satisfaction, while improving communication and overall patient care.
